Instagram conducts further tests BeReal Like Concepts

The BeReal approach, which entails offering a picture of whatever you could be doing at a given time of day, looks to be a long-lasting social media trend.

BeReal deftly eliminates the phony atmosphere of social networking.
Instagram is attempting to capitalize on this concept.

Instagram is currently creating some comparable features, centered on other areas within the platform, after experimenting with a very BeReal-Esque feature dubbed ‘Candid’ earlier this year.
To begin, Instagram is developing a feature dubbed ‘Roll Call,’ which will allow group chats users to request that all participants upload a photo or video of themselves to the conversation within 5 minutes.
Instagram is also developing ‘Glimpse’ Stories, which, like BeReal, use the front and rear cameras to display what you’re up to at any given time.

As you can see, both of these versions, like BeReal, demand involvement, with the photographs or videos shared only available to those who have also given their contribution to the Roll Call/Glimpse.
Again, BeReal has witnessed a tremendous increase in downloads this year, indicating that such capability is certainly in demand.
But it also appears to be a passing craze, an antithesis to the artificiality that presently permeates the applications.
While there is a yearning for more true, honest communication within social applications, the main platforms currently play such a large role in our everyday lives that usurping them will be challenging.
