Following the launch of its new Notes feature in certain locations last month, Instagram is now broadening Notes access, with users in Europe and Japan now able to add Notes within the app’s Direct inbox.
Notes are short posts of up to 60 characters that appear at the top of your IG inbox for 24 hours. Your contacts may see and respond to your Notes in the app, making it simple to start a conversation or engage in-stream.
And, as Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri mentions in the video above, Notes have been well received thus far, particularly among younger users who are experimenting with new ways to communicate with friends and exchange information across social platforms.
The option is another attempt by Instagram to capitalize on the fact that more people are now communicating in messages rather than publishing to their main feed.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has also stated that more conversations are now taking place within private channels, and because this is where user engagement is going, Instagram is eager to add more ways to feed into this trend in order to increase engagement.
