Twitter’s ‘Verification for Organizations’ program, which offers a gold checkmark for brand accounts and verification of employee profiles as affiliates, is being rolled out to more regions despite its high pricing. For $1,000 a month, brands can receive a gold checkmark, a square profile picture, an affiliate badge, and Twitter Blue access for all brand and affiliated accounts. However, for each affiliate profile registered, brands must pay an additional $50 per month. While Twitter is hoping that the program will become the new standard in brand recognition, it may be difficult for most SMBs to justify the high cost for little return. With advertisers still not returning to Twitter, the program could be another means for the social media platform to generate revenue. Ultimately, brands will need to weigh the benefits against the cost to determine if the program is worth the investment.
