Twitter has stated today that Moments are no longer available, which will have little impact but has symbolic significance.
As Twitter points out, you can still browse Moments from the past. However, the ability to create new Moments is being phased down, ultimately marking the end of the Moments initiative, which was introduced with much fanfare only days following the departure of former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo in 2015.
Moments were being billed at the time as a “wholly new way to look at tweets,” with Twitter wanting to make the feature a key priority, as a method to help highlight the best of what the site has to offer, without needing to know your way around the app or by following the appropriate people.
Moments was a daily highlight reel of the top stories selected by Twitter’s news staff. However, although the initial response to the option seemed promising, Moments usage and interest have slowly fallen over time.
