Twitter has implemented new rules that prohibit links to other social media platforms.

To clarify, you must delete all links from your bio and stop tweeting links to your profiles on Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribal, Nostr, Post, and Twitter.
In case you were wondering, millions of accounts are presently violating this new regulation.

It’s time to rewrite your Twitter profile since Elon and the company have changed the rules regarding what you may link to – and if you don’t comply, you’ll be suspended in no time.

Many users had reported difficulties linking to their Mastodon accounts in the previous week, which appeared to be Twitter’s attempt to halt a mass exodus. We now have an official explanation – and that’s not all.

“We recognize that many of our users are active on other social media platforms. However, we will no longer allow free promotion of certain social media platforms on Twitter.”

Twitter does not wish to juice its competition by offering free audience reach. I’m not sure if it will provide Twitter with the competitive advantage it seeks, but here we are.

Twitter further states that any attempt to circumvent the new regulations, such as writing out ‘dot’ for social media platform links to prevent URL generation, or publishing screenshots of your handle on a restricted social media network, may result in a paddlin’ from the tweet Gods.
Twitter, on the other hand, will continue to accept paid advertising and promotion for any of the forbidden social media networks. What a shock.
