WhatsApp’s latest beta update for Android, version 2.23.19.3, introduces a convenient feature—quick sharing of original quality photos and videos. This update streamlines the media-sharing process, ensuring that users can maintain the quality of their media files.
Simplified Sharing
In this update, WhatsApp introduces a new entry point within the documents picker, allowing users to easily select photos and videos from their app gallery. These selected media files are then shared as documents, preserving their quality and metadata.
Preserving Media Quality
While it was possible to share media as documents in previous updates, this new entry point simplifies the process. Sharing media in its original quality ensures that photos and videos retain their detail, sharpness, and color accuracy, without compression or downscaling during sharing.
Availability
This feature is currently available to some beta testers who have updated their WhatsApp beta for Android via the Google Play Store. The rollout will continue in the coming days, reaching more users.
