Currently, WhatsApp is focusing on enhancing status updates. We specifically learned that the business is working on the capacity to produce rich link previews when sharing a link to your status update:
The new text status update that will be issued in the future will be different from the one that is currently available. WhatsApp creates a rich preview by enhancing the shared link with additional information. When sharing a link to a text status update on WhatsApp beta for Android, there is currently a preview, but it is not a rich preview. WhatsApp plans to introduce richer link previews in the future. Even though the screenshot was captured from the WhatsApp beta for iOS, at a later time, WhatsApp will undoubtedly add the same feature to the beta versions of the app for Android and desktop. Regrettably, this feature is still in development and won’t be accessible to beta testers until a later update.
