WhatsApp is introducing the ability to undo “delete for me” on iOS and Android

Following the publication of an overview of new voice and video call capabilities published this year, WhatsApp is today unveiling a feature that allows users to restore a message accidentally deleted on WhatsApp for iOS, Android, and Desktop!
We mentioned a new feature accessible to select beta testers in our article on the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.22.18.73 update: the ability to undo “delete for me” for a few seconds. Thanks to this function, it is easier for you to retrieve texts erased by mistake when you utilize “delete for me”.

When you delete a message for yourself but intended to remove it for everyone, the undo button is the right solution: every time you delete a message for yourself, a snack bar appears with the “undo” option. The wording of this sentence is a little different than the one on the back of the envelope, but it is the same idea.
Note that, although this screenshot is taken from WhatsApp for Android, the same functionality is also available on WhatsApp Desktop and WhatsApp for iOS, as indicated inside the official changelog of the WhatsApp for iOS 22.19.75 update issued on the App Store.

The ability to undo “delete for me” is available to all WhatsApp users on iOS, Android, and desktop. You get the functionality, make sure to install the most recent version available on the shop.
