When upgrading privacy settings on WhatsApp, there is a problem.

Some WhatsApp for iOS users is having trouble changing their privacy settings. Because the problem is on the server side, it is not the result of a faulty WhatsApp for iOS upgrade.

RECENT ADDITIONS TO THE ISSUE:
A problem has been identified: certain WhatsApp users may be unable to alter their privacy settings for “online” (05:14 UTC time).
WhatsApp for iOS: We noticed that this issue is isolated to the iOS platform after some testing, as indicated in this tweet (05:50 UTC time).
As this tweet stated, the online privacy setting is set to “everyone” by default: it is merely visible (06:07 UTC time).
The problem has been resolved, and iOS users can now alter their privacy settings for “online” once more (07:50 UTC time).

If your WhatsApp online presence is concealed, don’t worry: your current configuration is secure, and no one can see when you’re online if you disable this option.
Unfortunately, we have no information on when the server team will address this issue. We will keep you updated here and on Twitter as soon as we obtain more information on the outage.
