Due to the negative feedback following the most recent modifications to its verification procedure, Twitter has reintroduced blue checkmarks for accounts with more than a million followers, even if they haven’t paid for the privilege. Twitter removed the old checkmarks from the app last week, so only paying users to Twitter Blue saw the blue ticks. High-profile users, however, rejected this proposal since they felt that they were the ones that added value to the network, not the other way around. Following the outcry, the social networking platform started giving checkmarks to 10,000 of the most popular profiles.
